Rajasthan remains on the receiving end during this pre-monsoon season. During the second half of March as well as throughout the month of April, many districts of Rajasthan recorded unseasonal rain and hailstorm activities leading to widespread damage to crops.
Many districts of Rajasthan have been receiving intense dust storms associated with hailstorms for the last 3 to 4 days. District of Sikar was flooded. There was widespread damage in Jaipur and adjoining areas due to heavy dust storms. Nagaur district received heavy hailstorms and duststorms leading to the uprooting of trees and electric poles.
A cyclonic circulation is persisting over Punjab and Haryana and moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea are feeding moisture. Therefore, rain and thundershower are associated with hail storms, and is expected to continue over many parts of Rajasthan until the end of the month.
There will not be any heatwave over Rajasthan for at least the next week. The intensity of rain will be heavy over Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Bikaner, Jhunjhunu, and Sikar areas. However, the chances of rain are very less over Banswara, Dungarpur, Udaipur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sirohi, Jalore, and Barmer.
As of now, agricultural fields are without any crops therefore these activities will not have any adverse impact on agricultural output. In fact, these ongoing rain activities will certainly increase the soil moisture which will be beneficial for upcoming Kharif crops.
