Dust storm to commence over Punjab and Haryana today, pre-Monsoon rains to follow

In the wake of the ongoing dry weather conditions over the northwestern plains, temperatures in most places of Punjab and Haryana have increase by a couple of degrees.

However, now a fresh Western Disturbance is expected to approach Jammu and Kashmir. This system will induce a cyclonic circulation over parts of Northwest Rajasthan and its adjoining areas.

Therefore, today we expect pre-Monsoon weather activities in the form of dust storm followed by spells of rain and thundershowers to commence over few parts of Punjab and Haryana. By tomorrow the intensity and spread of these weather activities will increase.

On May 22 and 23, most parts of Punjab and Haryana will be under the influence of rain and thundershower activities accompanied with strong winds. Moreover, due to high temperatures and humidity, the formation of convective clouds is possible, hence isolated hailstorm activity cannot be ruled out.

These pre-Monsoon weather activities will continue over these states till May 23. From May 24, the weather will almost clear up from Haryana, but still northern parts of Punjab may witness patchy rains due to the remnants of the weather systems.

May 25 onward, weather conditions in Punjab and Haryana will become almost dry. The temperatures will once again start rising in the coming four to five days and no weather system will affect the region.
