Dust storm activities battered many parts of North Rajasthan yesterday i.e. on June 10. Scattered light to moderate rain is going on over parts of Punjab and Haryana for the last few days. Many parts of Punjab and a few places over Haryana and Rajasthan may witness dust storms with rain for the next 2 to 3 days.
A fresh Western Disturbance may approach Western Himalayas on June 12. Southwesterly humid winds from the Arabian Sea are feeding moisture over Northwest India.
Despite these pre-monsoon activities, we do not expect temperatures to go down. The reason being these weather activities will be short-lived and will be patchy in nature. There may be short-term relief from ongoing hot weather conditions but increased humidity levels will certainly increase the discomfort.
Rain and thundershowers may increase once again over the Western and northern parts of Rajasthan from June 17 and make cover parts of Punjab and Haryana on June 18 and 19. Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy after making landfall over Southeast Pakistan and adjoining parts of Gujarat will get weakened and move over Rajasthan and subsequently over Northwest India.
Monsoon is moving behind schedule. Expect monsoon rains over Northwest India by the end of June.
