Delhi/NCR was lashed by dust storms and thundershowers, last evening and night. Strong winds also accompanied and even hailstorms occurred at some places. The activity continue till about midnight. There was a drop in temperature of about 10°C between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Moderate cool breeze swept across the city and suburbs, through the night and early morning.
Capital City, like the other days, recorded a temperature of 44°C, about 4°C above the normal and causing heat wave conditions. However, the minimum temperature took a plunge today, to go below normal by 3°C. A day prior, the minimum temperature was 31°C in 05th June, the highest minimum, so far in the season. While the minimum temperature will rise by 4-5°C, the day temperature may get arrested at about 41°C.
The synoptic features have not changed much. The western disturbance persists over the mountains. There is cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan and adjoining border areas. Another low-level circulation is marked over West Uttar Pradesh. The east-west trough joining these two systems extends further eastward and runs very close but north of Delhi. Weather activity is generally more to the south of trough line.
Conditions remain favourable for dust-cum-thunderstorm activity for Delhi/ NCR from 06th -08th June. Chances will be more for this, sometime tomorrow and far less, today. The spell of weather activity will be over by 08th June and resume back to the hot and humid conditions, next week. The mercury may once again reach or exceed 45°C and commence another spell of heat wave for the national capital.
