The state of Rajasthan has been battling with scorching summer heat since end of April. Few locations have been recording sweltering mercury levels settling near the 45-degree mark. However, severe destruction was caused by dust storm and thunderstorm activities on May 2. Since then the weather over entire state has remained dry and hot.

Now a Western Disturbance is seen over Jammu and Kashmir and has induced a cyclonic circulation over Northwest Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana and Punjab. A trough is also seen extending from this system up to central parts of Uttar Pradesh.

In wake of all these weather systems, we expect dust storm and thundershowers to commence over many districts of North Rajasthan by today evening and are expected to increase in intensity by tomorrow.

Places like Churu, Bikaner, Sikar, Alwar, Bharatpur, Sri Ganganagar may receive violent dust storm activity accompanied with thundershowers between night of May 7 and May 8.

The maximum temperatures over the entire state are mostly above 40 degrees. Furthermore, these temperatures are expected drop by 4-5 degrees. But will again start increasing after May 8.
