Weather in RajasthanThe month of May is a pre-Monsoon month and North India is prone to such weather activities during this period. There are a range of weather phenomenon which is witnessed in the form of dust storm, thunderstorm, squally winds, lightning, along with hailstorm.

These intense weather activities occur on account of the passage of Western disturbances which accentuate the cyclonic circulation present over the plains of North India. These circulations are heat triggered so high temperatures also have an important role to play.

Last week, intense weather activity was seen over many parts of North India including Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and parts of West Uttar Pradesh.

Similar scenario is currently prevalent with a Western Disturbance being over the Western Himalayan region. Along with this, a cyclonic circulation is over North Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana. A trough is also running eastwards from this system across Delhi NCR up to Uttar Pradesh region.

Whenever a vast area comes under the strike of weather activities, small pockets ranging from a few to tens of kilometres see very intense weather activity. In fact, activities only occur over areas which observe very high temperatures as these activities are heat triggered.

Last week, such weather conditions were seen over parts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh including Bharatpur, Dhaulpur, and Agra region. Due to which, at least 125 people have lost their lives in Rajasthan as intense dust storm storm had swept away the region.

Uttar Pradesh is also expected to be affected where in cities of Agra and Mathura will be under the radar. Wind speed is expected to range between 50-60 kmph and may reach to 100 kmph in isolation pockets.

The weather activity is expected to spread its wings, even more, today and will last for longer durations.

Pre-Monsoon activity is seen quite commonly over northern parts of the country. Winds of this speed and intensity are inbuilt characteristics of such weather phenomena. The only need of this hour by residents is to exercise caution and not expose themselves to such weather conditions.

While there may be intense weather in some parts and the alert remains, there is no need to create any kind of major panic or a chaotic situation amongst the masses.
