Dust storm, thundershowers in Delhi today; hot weather thereafter

Delhi and its neighborhood has been searing in hot and dry weather conditions since the last many days. There was merely one instance, on June 9, when the national capital exhilarated with some light rain and thundershowers.

Since then, parched weather has been dominating Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Noida.

As per forecasters, the easterly humid winds have commenced during the last 24 hours. As a result, temperatures have stumbled, particularly the maximums that have settled below the normal range by three degrees Celsius.

Currently, a trough is running from northern parts of Rajasthan up to western parts of Uttar Pradesh. With the presence of this weather system, we could expect dust storm or thundershowers at isolated areas of Delhi-NCR today.

Subsequently, dry weather will pave in leading to rise in mercury levels, specifically the maximums that are expected to climb by 2 to3 degrees Celsius in the approaching days.

Hence, we do not foresee any significant weather event over Delhi and its neighborhood during the upcoming 4 to 5 days. Prolonged hot and dry weather is likely over Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Noida.
