Heat wave has once again gripped Northwest India, with day temperatures soaring above 40°C over most parts of Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and parts of Haryana. The bad news is that we are not foreseeing any relief from the soaring mercury in the coming days despite some thunder storm and dust storm in offing.
According to Skymet Weather, first the predicted pre-Monsoon activities would be feeble in nature and second, these activities would be seen during the latter part of the day only that would not affect the rising mercury.
A fresh Western Disturbance has approached Jammu and Kashmir and it will give scattered rains over the state. Meanwhile, it has induced a Cyclonic Circulation over western parts of Rajasthan and a trough from this system can be seen extending up to North Madhya Pradesh across Rajasthan. The effect of this weather system would be prevalent over the northwestern plains of the country in the form of dust storm and thundershower activities.
Hence, dust storm and thundershower activities are likely across many districts of Rajasthan during next 48 hours. Places like Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Bikaner, Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar etc would be among the affected areas.
Today by late afternoon or evening, isolated thundery or dust storm activities might be witnessed over Delhi and NCR. This would lead to drop in temperatures, particularly the night temperatures by a couple of degrees. Night will be comparatively cool and comfortable. However, day would continue to be hot.
Isolated activities are also expected over Punjab and Haryana, western parts of Uttar Pradesh, today and tomorrow. On April 12 the remnants of the system might give isolated activities over the northwestern plains. While, April 13 onward the weather would start clearing up and once again the mercury is expected to rise.
