The weather conditions are becoming favourable for another spell of pre-Monsoon rains in the plains of northern India. Humid winds have already increased the moisture levels across the northwestern plains. As a result, light to moderate rains and thundershowers are likely on June 9 and June 10 across the region.

According to Skymet Weather, weather in Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan and Delhi will be partly cloudy. In fact, dust storm and thunderstorm may also make an appearance today over these regions.
At present, a trough is extending from Northwest Rajasthan to Bihar across plains. Apart from this system, there is a cyclonic circulation over Northwest Madhya Pradesh. Thus, it is anticipated that districts in Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan and Delhi will observe dust storm and thundershowers in the coming days. In fact, moderate rainfall may also occur in some regions.
In wake of the change in wind pattern, the temperatures have already decreased in Northwest India, but humid weather will keep the discomfort levels high. However, during the next two days, the mercury would drop further in view of the upcoming rains. Thus, we can expect some relief from the scorching heat.
Along with the northwestern plains, Northwest Madhya Pradesh will also observe pre-Monsoon activities until June 11.
Thereafter, the impact of these systems will shift to the southern parts of the country and rain in North India will reduce. Thus, stations in the northwestern plains such as Amritsar, Ambala, Karnal, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Gurugram and Delhi will witness very less pre-Monsoon showers until the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon.
