Dust storm, thundershower in Bareilly, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar

The state of Uttar Pradesh receives varied weather conditions. Yesterday, a cyclonic circulation was seen persisting over Bihar and adjoining area. From this system a trough was also extending up to northern parts of East Uttar Pradesh. This trough has resulted in light rainfall activities over East Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, weather over West Uttar Pradesh remained dry and hot.

In the last 24 hours, Hardoi received rainfall activities and traces of rain were also seen in Gorakhpur. Rest few other parts of the foothills were seen receiving light rains.

Now we expect isolated dust storm and thunderstorm activities over eastern parts of the state for the next 24-48 hours. Weather of West Uttar Pradesh will remain dry and hot for next 2-3 days and temperatures are also expected to increase due to dry and hot northwesterly winds.

Further, around June 16, we expect a trough to form over northern parts of the state leading to commencement of scattered dust storm and thundershowers activities over some part of West Uttar Pradesh on June 16. Thereafter, the weather will once again become dry and hot.

Places like Bareilly, Pilibhit, Moradabad, Shajapur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut may receive scattered pre-monsoon activities.

Usually, by June 15 monsoon reaches the eastern parts of the state but this time we do not expect it till June 18 as now the monsoon is not expected to advance for next one week. Therefore, the onset of monsoon is expected to get delayed over the state.
