Seventeen people have died in different occurrences of dust storm, lightning and rain in different areas of Uttar Pradesh in the previous 24 hours.
As per reports, four people were killed in Siddharthanagar, three in Deoria, three in Basti, two in Ballia and one each in Azamgarh, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Lakhimpur and Pilibhit.
In Siddharthanagar, a a worker Rahim was killed and two women hurt, as a tin shed fell on them. In Basti area, Brijbhan Yadav was killed when lightning struck. He was working in his fields during the time of heavy rains.
Thirty-year-old Vishal was killed in Debrua town in Basti when a tree fell on him. He was coming back from a medical shop. His eight-year-old nephew Golu, who was with him, is critical and has been admitted to the hospital.
Budhna, 65, was sitting in the field when a tree fell on her, killing her on the spot. The episode occurred in Dumariaganj in Siddharthanagar.
In Deoria area, Shubham, 22, passed away when an electric post fell on him in Bhulwani town in Deoria. In Gauribazar, in a similar region, a lady Israwati, 55, was killed when lightning struck. In a similar town an eight-year-old kid passed away when a divider crumbled on him.
CM Yogi Adityanath has said that all assistance will be given and expressed grief over the situation.
