Many parts of Rajasthan experienced severe destruction caused by dust storm and thunderstorm activities on May 2. Since then the weather over entire state has remained dry and hot.

However, some weather activity was observed, and fairly widespread dust storm and thundershower activities were observed over North and West Rajasthan during last 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Ajmer recorded 3.4 mm of rain, followed by Churu 7.6 mm, Jaisalmer 6.4 mm, Jodhpur 1.5 mm, Pilani 5.1 mm, Sikar 5.8 mm, Sri Ganganagar 2.3 mm.

These activities were mainly a result of the cyclonic circulation which was formed over northern parts of Rajasthan.

Currently the cyclonic circulation has weakened and moved towards Haryana. Therefore, now we do not expect high intensity dust storm or thundershower activities to re-occur over Rajasthan.

However, the moisture content is still sufficient in the atmosphere. Therefore, with the rise of temperatures we expect re generation of thunderclouds over northern parts of Rajasthan which may lead to moderate dust storm or thunderstorm activity by today afternoon or evening.

However, the intensity will be much less than the storm which was experienced yesterday. Temperatures are expected to remain on the lower side for another 24-48 hours. Thereafter, temperatures will start rising and heatwave conditions are likely to make a comeback in the next few days.
