Gujarat has not witnessed any rain for the last many days. Scattered rain occurred over parts of North and Northeast Rajasthan as well as parts of North and East Madhya Pradesh during the last week. Gujarat is large rain deficient whereas Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are in the deficient rain category.
March and April remained very hot for all the three states as prolonged heat wave conditions were witnessed during these months. We have not witnessed any heat wave over all these states since the last one week or so. Reason for abatement of heat wave can be attributed to the scattered rain, thundershowers, dust storm and isolated hailstorm activities over parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Moreover, humid winds from Arabian Sea are blowing over Gujarat and did not allow the temperature to increase much.
Now, winds have changed direction and blowing from the west and Northwest over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Temperatures are expected to increase but we do not expect heat wave to make a comeback over Madhya Pradesh. However isolated pockets of Western parts of Rajasthan may come under heat wave. As for Gujarat, there may be marginal increase in temperatures, but we do not expect heat wave over Gujarat as humid winds from Arabian Sea will continue.
