Persistent dry weather conditions over Vidarbha have resulted in clear and bright sunny skies over the region. Further, sunny skies have led both the day and night temperatures of the region to rise and settle a few notches above the normal levels. Currently, both maximums and minimums are 2-4 degrees above normal.
Yesterday also, many stations in the region recorded the maximum temperatures near or above the 35-degree mark. The daytime high of Wardha was 35.2°C followed by Nagpur at 34.8°C. Meanwhile, the maximum temperatures of Buldhana and Yeotmal settled at 34.5°C, respectively.
As per Skymet Weather, any significant weather system is not expected in or near the region as of now. Hence, the temperatures are expected to continue to remain above normal for another 3-4 days. Thereafter, around February 27, isolated light rain and thundershowers are expected over the region.

However, even these spells of thundershowers would be patchy in nature and thus would not result in many drops in the temperature profile. In fact, as this is the favorable period for hailstorm activities, a short spell of hailstorms cannot be ruled out as well.
However, these isolated rain and hailstorm activities would mainly remain confined to the regions of North Vidarbha region. While the other regions would remain dry, the districts such as Akola, Nagpur, and Gondia are likely to get affected by the rain and thundershower activity.

Due to dry and warm weather, farmers must complete the harvesting of Rabi crops i.e. Wheat and late sown Bengal Gram. Post-harvest, farmers are requested to clean & plough the field. Farmers in Vidarbha are recommended to undertake the harvest of fruit crops such as Orange, and Pomegranate as well and ensure irrigating the fruit orchards to restrict fruit & flower drops.
