Most parts of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha witnessed good rainfall in the recent past. These good showers were accompanied by thundering activity and lightning strikes. Squally winds had become the feature over the region.
The recent rainfall activity over most parts of East India has made sure that both minimum and maximum temperatures remain below normal. But such weather conditions are unlikely to remain for long. With no weather system in sight, dry weather is likely to prevail over the region for the days to come.
At present, both maximum and minimum temperatures are below normal by 4-5°C over Bihar and Jharkhand. Even most areas of West Bengal have registered drop in temperatures by 3-4°C. But clear skies will ensure that the temperatures are all set to rise over the region.
The recent rain activity over the area was extremely beneficial for the Rabi crops, but the rain activity accompanied by hailstorm and strong winds are not good for the crops.
Thanks to the trough which is moving eastwards, rains are likely to continue today in Northeastern states. From March 14 onward, weather will go dry over the seven sister states as well.
