Dry weather in Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan and West UP; Delhi pollution to remain severe

Dry weather conditions have been prevailing over the northwestern plains of the country i.e. Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh since the last many days. In fact, no rains have been recorded over any part of Northwest India since the beginning of November.

Now both day and night temperatures are also below normal over all these states. Yesterday, Delhi recorded its maximum temperature at 26.6 degree Celsius and minimum at 11.0 degree Celsius, followed by Jaipur 30.6/13.7 degree Celsius, Meerut 26.6/11.7 degree Celsius and Patiala 28.6/11.5 degree Celsius.

Further as no particular weather system is approaching the plains of North India, we do not expect any weather activity over the Northwestern Plains in the coming days.

However, the minimum temperatures over all these states may rise by two to three degree Celsius in the next three to four days due to the approaching Western Disturbance over the hills of North India.

Moreover, the north-westerly cold winds which were blowing from snow clad mountains of Western Himalayas will now cut off. Winds will also change direction and blow from southwest and southeast direction. Thus, we can say that night temperatures may rise marginally and weather will become absolutely dry.

Delhi pollution is also expected to remain severe to very severe for the next two days. Thereafter, due to commencement of north-westerly winds, pollution level will decrease gradually.
