Dry weather in Gulmarg, Srinagar, Udhampur, Dalhousie for next 24 hours

February 23, 2019 11:33 AM | Skymet Weather Team

As predicted by Skymet Weather, weather activities have significantly reduced over the Western Himalayas in the last 24 hours. As the Western Disturbance has moved away in east direction, only scattered light rain and snow have occurred over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh as well as Uttarakhand. Moreover, in the absence of any significant weather system, moderate northerly/northwesterly winds are blowing over the region.

In wake of these winds, morning temperature will see a drop over most parts of the state while day temperatures will witness a rise. Moreover, mainly partly cloudy to cloudy sky will prevail over the region with the chances of light rain and thundershowers in the isolated pockets of hills such as Gulmarg, Srinagar, Udhampur and Dalhousie.

Further, next 24 to 48 hours will see mainly dry weather for all the three states and we expect highway authorities to soon resume roadway operations which had been kept closed in wake of heavy snowfall and avalanche possibility since the last few days. Moreover, weather will be perfect for tourists to head towards the hills and one can enjoy different skiing games that the states offer.

According to Skymet Weather, another Western Disturbance will approach the Western Himalayas by February 24. In wake of this system, we expect rain and snow to lash the region once again tomorrow evening onward. Further, the intensity of these activities will increase on February 25 and we can again expect the possibility of avalanches and disruption of roadway operations.
