This year the winter season and rains are playing hide and seek with Delhi and its adjoining areas such Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, as due to successive Western Disturbances, the temperatures are hovering up and down.
The reason for this that, whenever a Western Disturbance approaches the hills of North India, the wind direction changes to easterly/southeasterly and temperatures start increasing.
However, after the passage of the Western Disturbance once again the wind direction changes to icy cold northwesterly winds due to which temperatures drop.

Moreover, during the passage of this Western Disturbance usually a cyclonic circulation gets induced over Rajasthan and adjoining areas which tends to give rainfall over the region including Delhi and NCR.
Now for another 24 to 48 hours, in the absence of any significant weather system, the weather over Delhi-NCR will remain dry with clear sky and bright sunshine.
However, on March 2, another fresh Western Disturbance will approach the northern hills which will once again induce a cyclonic circulation over the northwestern plains. A trough will also extend from circulation up to South Uttar Pradesh.
This trough will be responsible for giving scattered rain and thundershowers over Delhi-NCR on March 2 and 3. Thereafter, the weather systems will once again weaken and move eastwards, leading to commencement of dry and cold northwesterly winds.
Even though, today Delhi has witnessed drop in temperature but by tomorrow and day after minimum temperatures will once again increase reaching up to 15˚C which at present is about 10˚C.
The pollution levels over Delhi-NCR have decreased significantly since the last 8 to 10 days. In fact, the AQI still continues to remain under satisfactory to moderate category.
