Dry weather in Chandigarh, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur; isolated showers cannot be ruled out

Weather over the plains of Northwest India i.e. Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan has remined warm and dry during the last 24 hours.

Further, as of now, Haryana, Punjab including Chandigarh have received excess of rainfall. Whereas, rainfall in Delhi and Rajasthan remained normal. However, Uttar Pradesh is still rain deficient by 42%.

Now, the Monsoon trough has further moved towards North and is currently moving across Kapurthala, Nahan, Shajapur and then towards the eastern parts.

Northwesterlies are prevailing over most parts of the Northwestern Plains.

In fact, the day temperatures are also expected to rise further, and mainly hot weather is expected during this weekend.

In Rajasthan, most parts of West and North Rajasthan will witness temperatures above 40˚C. Meanwhile, southwest parts may receive short spell of thundershower activity. Places like Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Bhilwara are expected to witness short spell of light rain.

Short spell of rain and thundershowers with strong gusty wind would occur over Ajmer, Banswara, Baran, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittaurgarh, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jodhpur, Kota, Pali, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk and Udaipur the district of Rajasthan during next 2 to 4 hrs.

Short spell of rain and thundershower activity is also possible in pockets of extreme Northeast Punjab, North Haryana and Northwest Uttar Pradesh, including the cities of Chandigarh, Panchkula, Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur.

This warm and dry weather is likely to continue for the next 48 hours. However, change in wind pattern will only be seen around July 9.
