National capital has been observing dry weather conditions for the last 4 days. Prior to this, the city witnessed prolonged wet spell between 20th and 25thSep. Prevailing weather conditions is giving a feel of monsoon withdrawal from the region. Rains are likely to visit again, albeit after one week, around 05thOctober and last till 10thOct. Twist in  weather conditions is expected next week.

Month of October is more familiarized with benign weather conditions for the capital city.  Invariably, monsoon makes an exit during last days of September, with normal date being 25thSep. Pleasant weather conditions, plenty of sunshine and minimal rains become the hallmark of October. However, the meteorological conditions building up over the next week may defy all these precursors. Monsoon withdrawal remains on tenterhooks :  it may not.  An extended rainy spell , like the one witnessed in the 4thweek, may repeat. Unseasonal rains may far exceed its monthly normal rainfall of 14mm in October.

Mostly, the capital city comes under the attack of western disturbance, after the withdrawal of monsoon.  However, the expected spell will be an off-shoot of stand alone monsoon system evolving over Bay of Bengal, anytime soon.  System over Bay of Bengal itself will be a byproduct of typhoon in the South China Sea. Typhoon Noru and its remnant has struck Southeast Asia. The leftover of this typhoon will emerge as a low pressure over Bay of Bengal.

The unusual system will find its bearing, tramping national capital and suburbs between 05th and 10thOctober. It is too early to preempt the spread and intensity of the weather system and need to be observed closely for another 48hr.  Dry weather with fair amount of sunshine is expected for Delhi/NCR till 04thOctober.
