Dry weather continues to grip the state of Maharashtra tightly as almost all the four regions of the state are arid and warm. The temperatures continue to settle few notches above the normal levels making the day warm and sunny.

Temperatures in Konkan and Goa region are no different and the region remained dry and warm. Both the maximums and minimums are on a rise. While maximums are significantly above normal by 4-5 degrees, the minimum temperatures are marginally above normal.

Considering the maximums recorded yesterday, both Mumbai and Ratnagiri were above normal by 5 degrees each, followed by Alibag with the daytime high 4 degrees above the normal levels. In fact, Mumbai saw the highest maximum temperatures of the season a day before.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is extending from Kerala up to South Maharashtra coast but being feeble in nature is not capable of any weather activity in terms of rains over the region.

Hence, no significant changes in the weather are expected and the weather of Konkan and Goa region would continue to remain dry and warm for at least another 2-3 days. Being situated along the coastal belt of the state, the days would remain humid leading to an increase in discomfort levels. The sky would remain clear with increased sunshine hours.

Let us see the impact of this weather on agriculture of Konkan and Goa region:

As the weather is likely to remain dry, farmers are advised to irrigate the summer crop of Paddy, pulses and short duration fruit crops. Farmers are also requested to be vigilant for pest attack in Mango, and Cashew nut orchard. Further, it is also advisable for the farmers to stay cautious as mango is in flowering to fruiting stage, pest attack can lead to damage.
