The weather in the northwest region of the country will remain largely dry during the next two days owing to the absence of a weather system here. However, thunder activities cannot be ruled out due to the presence of moisture and rise in temperatures during the post afternoon session.
Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation in northwest Bay of Bengal is expected to develop into a low pressure area during the next 24 hours and increase rain over Orissa and West Bengal coast.
The ‘city of Joy’ Kolkata is expected to receive moderate to heavy rain in the next 24 to 48 hours which could lead to flooding in several low-lying areas.
The low pressure area may head inland to increase rain over rest of Orissa, Chhattisgarh and then east Madhya Pradesh.
In eastern parts of the country over east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal, rain will be light. South east Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas will receive heavy rain at isolated places due to the presence of a cyclonic circulation. Rain may increase in the region after 48 hours.
In central India, rain will remain subdued over Gujarat and west Madhya Pradesh. Central Peninsular region of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada will remain mostly dry but Vidarbha will see a gradual increase in rain due to the weather system in theBay of Bengal.
Interior parts of south Peninsula will not witness much change in weather. The region will remain mostly dry with light scattered rain at one or two places.
Rain will remain light throughout the West coast except south Konkan and north coastal Karnataka where one or two spells of moderate showers could be witnessed.
In the northeast, hilly areas like Shillong could experience moderate rain but rest of the areas may receive light rain during the next two days.
