West Bengal has remained parched almost the entire months of March and April however, occasional rains have shown up in parts of the state during both the months. But these rains were not good enough to bring down the day temperatures.

The maximums at most time of the month remained close to or above the 40-degree mark. After witnessing almost a fortnight-long dry spell, heaven has finally opened doors for some downpour over parts of the state.

In the last 24 hours, some good showers have bestowed upon West Bengal. In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am n Saturday, Bankura witnessed moderate showers of 30 mm of rains, Asansol 4.7 mm, Malda 4.2 mm, and Purulia observed 4 mm of rainy spells.

A cyclonic circulation was persisting over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas. A trough was also extending from this system up to Interior Odisha.

In the wake of this, scattered rains occurred over parts of West Bengal, particularly over the southern and central regions. As per Skymet Weather, now this cyclonic circulation is expected to shift towards Assam and Meghalaya.

However, the trough is still extending up to Odisha but has now become feeble in nature. Due to this, the weather will remain almost dry over West Bengal however isolated rain activity is still likely to occur over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas. Other parts of the state will observe dry weather for at least another 3 to 4 days.

Despite these rains, no changes in the temperature profile are though seen as true to their nature, pre-Monsoon showers generally show up during late afternoon and evening hours. Till that time, the day temperatures have already peaked.
