Kerala Rains

Kerala has been witnessing subdued rainfall activities for the past many days due to which the rain surplus in the month of November so far has come down to 30% from 50% in October.

According to senior meteorologists at Skymet, not much rainfall is expected in Kerala for 48 hours, i.e., today and tomorrow. Scattered light rains with one or two moderate spells are very likely in Kerala from November 29 and the intensity of rain will increase on November 30 and December 1.

During the same period, isolated heavy spells cannot be ruled out either. These rains will be in the wake of a Low-Pressure Area likely to form over the Southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining equatorial Indian ocean around November 30.

The impact of this weather system will be seen in Kerala until December 1. Thereafter the rains will once again subside. However heavy rains may continue over South Tamil Nadu during this period.

So, we can say that Kerala will see a couple of days of rain during the first week of December. Presently the maximum and minimum temperatures in Kerala are being recorded above normal. At the time of rainfall, we do expect that temperatures to record near normal.

Places like Kochi, Kozhikode, Kannur, Thiruvananthapuram, and Alappuzha are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall activities with heavy spells in isolated pockets between November 30 and December 1.
