September 1, 2023 4:12 PM |

The national capital has seen a below-normal August with rains being on the lower side. Moreover, the month of September has also started on a dry note. The national capital has remained dry for the last eight days or so and similar weather is expected for the next ten days.

The month of September's normal rains stand at 128 mm, which is a lot less than August's 226.8 mm. The normals drop in September to quite an extent as the Monsoon starts to see signs of withdrawal and rains tend to reduce.

With the upcoming dry spell, temperatures may rise and may hover around 37-38 degrees. Yesterday, the maximum settled at 36.8 degrees in Safdarjung and Palam at 37.4 degrees. These maximums may even touch 38 degrees. The monsoon trough will be towards the north, thus the air will drier which will result in higher temperatures.
