While March began on a dry note for the North Indian plains, the first weekend witnessed good showers providing the residents that much needed relief. The end of the second week also saw some rains over several areas of North India. Isolated rains made an appearance over a few parts during the third weekend as well.

These rains have kept the temperatures under check resulting in comfortable conditions for almost entire North India. Now, the present Western Disturbance which had led to rains over the region has moved away. For the next few days, dry weather conditions will take over in the Northwestern Plains. Until March 25, the region is likely to reel under hot weather conditions.

Temperatures are expected to witness a rise by around 2 to 3 degrees. Residents of North India will experience summer like conditions during this period. However, a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the Western Himalayas. This system will start affecting the hills of North India around the evening hours of March 24. An induced cyclonic circulation will also form over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab and Haryana.

The combined effect of these systems will result in rain over parts of Punjab, some areas of Haryana and isolated pockets of West Rajasthan on March 25. On March 26 and 27, scattered rain will occur over Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, West Madhya Pradesh and isolated areas of Gujarat. While rainfall is expected to occur right from Punjab to Gujarat, intensity and spread will vary.
