Dry Days Ahead For Delhi, Mercury Spike Likely

National capital once again turned pleasant with decent showers yesterday evening and second bout in the early morning today. Weather activity will pause for sometime now and mercury may get pushed closer to the normal mark. 

Delhi has received frequent showers during fag end of April and first week of May. Safdarjung observatory has recorded 50mm of rainfall against the monthly normal of 29.4mm. More showers are likely after a brief halt for 3 days till 11th May. 

Western disturbance is marked over the mountains of North India. Weather activity will continue for the next 2 days and a break thereafter for 48hours on 10th and 11th May. Yet another western disturbance will arrive on 12th May, albeit weaker than the preceding one.  Weather system will have induced cyclonic circulation and a trough extension across Delhi.  Accordingly, light pre monsoon activity will resume again for 2 days on 12th and 13th May. Longer clearance is expected after the passage of this system. 

Day temperature is likely to rise steadily from thereon. During the first week itself, mercury has risen from a record low of 26.1 degree on 01st May to 37.4 degree yesterday.  Day temperature will increase to reach 39-40 degree by end of this week. Typical dry weather pre monsoon conditions with spike in the maximum temperature is expected in the 3rd week of the month.
