Dry And Hot Weekend For Delhi, Rains Likely Next Week

March 9, 2023 1:32 PM |

Some parts of Delhi/NCR witnessed rain and thunderstorm yesterday. Gusty winds accompanied the loud thunder with fleeting showers, mostly in the eastern suburbs of the national capital.  However, the base observatories at Safdarjung and Palam did not record any rainfall.  There was a marginal drop in the day temperature and a commensurate rise in the night temperature, albeit both remained above normal.

Fresh western disturbance is likely to arrive on 13th March, racing across the mountains.  The weather system will extend reach covering northern plains, right up to the capital city Delhi.  Partial clouds may stretch across the city on 12th and 13th March announcing arrival of the system.

Dry weather is expected till the weekend with a gradual rise in the mercury level.  Delhi normally observes a day temperature of 27-28 degree in the first 10days of March. However, the actuals are expected to shoot beyond the average by 5-6 degree in the next 3-4 days.  Maximum temperature may touch 34degree, first time in this season, surpassing the earlier high of 33.6degree, recorded on 20th Feb 2023.

The upcoming Western Disturbance will have induced cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan region. Yet another circulation is likely over the central region, jointly covering parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.  Spread of weather activity will increase, both in time and space. Delhi/NCR  is expected to witness pleasing showers between 14th and 18th March, more of it on the last 2 days on 17th and 18th March. Twist in  weather conditions just wait in the wings for the capital city during next week.
