Dry and hot weather ahead for Madhya Pradesh

Many parts of Madhya Pradesh have received rain with strong winds and thunderstorms during the last 24 hours. Day temperatures have dropped marginally but most places are still recording above-normal maximums. A North-South trough is extending from north Chhattisgarh to interior Karnataka across southeast Madhya Pradesh leading to these thunderstorm activities.

Now, the weather activities will shift towards southeastern and eastern districts of Madhya Pradesh and western parts how will witness dry and sunny weather. Temperature will rise once again and there are chances of heat wave at isolated pockets of the state.

Betul, Hoshangabad, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandala and Anuppur districts of Madhya Pradesh may get light rain with thunderstorm for another 24 hours. Thereafter, the weather is expected to go dry over these districts as well. Madhya Pradesh has received 25.8 normal of 10.1 mm between March 1 and April 19, which means the region has recorded excess rains by 155%.

The unseasonal rain during second half of March has caused widespread damage to crops. The dry and sunny weather ahead will give a sigh of relief to farming community but rising temperatures are also a cause of concern. Heat wave sometimes proves to be fatal.
