Thereafter, the axis of Monsoon trough has shifted along the foothills of Himalayas. As a result, the winds had also changed the direction and humid easterly winds were replaced by dry winds from the northwest. Thus, rains have reduced since last two days, but isolated lights rains were also observed in some parts of Delhi on Wednesday.

In wake of this, the weather is expected to remain hot and humid during the next three to four days. The maximum temperature in Delhi which settled at 36.5°C as on July 4 is likely to witness an increase and settle around 38°C. In fact, the maximum temperature may even touch 40°C in the coming days due to bright sunshine and dry weather.

Besides this, the minimum temperature is also expected to witness a rise leading to warm morning and nights.

However, isolated thunderstorm or thundershower activity cannot be ruled out in the coming days as well. These activities will be in patches and would occur for a short duration.

Weathermen at Skymet indicated that Monsoon rains will commence over Delhi and adjoining regions of Faridabad, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Noida by July 10. Gradually, by July 12, the intensity of Delhi rains are expected to increase resulting in some relief from the hot weather conditions.
