Most parts of Northwest India did not witness any cold wave conditions during the month of December. However cold day conditions were in abundance over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and western parts of Uttar Pradesh. The month of February commenced with heavy snowfall over Western Himalayas and a drop in temperatures over northwest India.
The weather is almost dry for the last few days and maximum temperatures are increasing gradually. Although minimums of most parts of Northwest India are still below normal. We do not expect much change in minimums for the next 2-3 days. Thereafter there may be a gradual increase in minimum and as well as in maximums. Isolated to scattered snowfall may continue over Western Himalayas during the next week. The series of Western disturbances which will approach hilly states will not allow westerly winds to prevail over the Northern part of the country. Therefore, minimums will not drop significantly. We can say that winter is now almost in its fag end.
