The popular Hindu Shrine, Vaishno Devi has been witnessing rain and snowy spells for quite some time. All thanks to successive Western Disturbances that were approaching Jammu and Kashmir.
So much so that pilgrims were advised to pause their visit for a while. Landslides and avalanches alerts were also issued for the area.
However, according to Skymet Weather, the shrine has observed on and off rains but snowy showers remained absent from the region in last few days. During last 24 hours as well, the area recorded one or two spells of light rain and thundershowers.
These rains can be attributed to the Western Disturbance over East Jammu and Kashmir. But now as the system has moved eastwards, clear and dry weather conditions are likely to make a comeback and persist until the weekend.
Thereafter, according to meteorologists at Skymet Weather, another Western Disturbance is likely to approach Western Himalayas by February 26. With this system approaching, we can expect another spell of rain and thundershowers over Vaishno Devi. However, no snowfall is expected at this time.
As we proceed towards March, both the frequency and intensity of Western Disturbances are likely to reduce. These systems will not be capable of giving snow or any significant weather activity over the holy shrine, Vaishno Devi.
