As reiterated by Skymet Weather, pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers have finally made appearance over drought hit regions of Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha region.

However, this weather activity has just brought momentary relief and will not have much impact over the day temperatures. These activities generally take place in afternoon or evening hours and by then temperatures have already peaked.

Skymet Weather predicts that Maharashtra still stands fair chance of isolated rain and thundershowers during next 24-48 hours. But relief from heatwave conditions is not likely.

Updated on March 28, 2016 04:10 PM (IST): Drought hit Marathwada, Vidarbha to get rain

Drought stricken Maharashtra is all set to get some relief from the ongoing heatwave conditions. According to Skymet Weather, the most affected regions of Marathwada and Vidarbha are likely to get light to moderate pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers during next 24-48 hours.

All thanks to the wind discontinuity seen from Vidarbha region up to Comorin area across Marathwada and Interior Karnataka.

Some parts of the state have already recorded some rain during last 24 hours. Gondia recorded 12 mm of rain, Bramhapuri 11 mm and Udgir 7.6 mm.

This activity has already led to marginal drop in the day temperatures but they still continue to settle between 42°C and 44°C. Further relief is expected over places such as Gondia, Latur, Chandraour, Wardha, Washim and Gadchiroli. Weathermen predicts pre-Monsoon activity to further intensify during first week of May, leading to abatement of heatwave from most parts of the state.
