The minimum temperature in Delhi has remained consistently close to or slightly below normal for the last four days. The lowest minimum so far was 10.2°C recorded yesterday morning. The base observatory at Safdarjung recorded a low of 11°C today morning which is close to normal. The meteorological office at Lodhi Road was a degree lower at 9.6°C. The Ridge continues to be the lowest in the region with a minimum temperature of 8.5°C. All these temperatures may rise by another one degree in the next 24-48 hours and drop thereafter.

A weak Western disturbance as an upper air trough is moving across the North Pakistan and Kashmir region. The system will result in scattered weather activity across the higher mountains. Isolated places, mostly above 12,000 feet, will have a brief spell of light snowfall. These conditions will last today and tomorrow and find clearance later.

The lower and middle ranges may have isolated and light precipitation on the 23rd night and on the 24th early morning. The system will exit quickly by the same night and pave the way for some cooler weather across the plains at the start of the week.

Mercury levels in Delhi will marginally rise over the weekend. Misty conditions in the morning may also have shallow to moderate fog in the early hours. Following the passage of the trough, cool northwesterly winds will sweep down the slopes. Plains will find a dip in the temperature and the chill in the air will be noticeable during the first half of the week. The national capital is expected to drop temperature, to about 10°C again, for the second time this month.
