Heavy rains lashed most parts of the silicon city, Bengaluru, during the last 24 hours leading to waterlogging and break-down of vehicles on roads. More rains are likely in the next 48 hours and recede thereafter. Showers on 22nd October will be more intense than on 21st October. Most of the weather activity will be during evening and night hours.

The city had exceeded its monthly normal in the rainiest month of September by registering 300 mm rainfall against the normal of 213 mm. The month of October is nearing its monthly normal of 168mm and has already clocked 157 mm with a major share of 67 mm pouring in the last 24 hours. The normals for the city drop significantly during November and December to 49mm and 16 mm respectively.

A powerful weather system persisting over the Bay of Bengal has triggered rainfall activity along the East Coast. An east-west shear line as an offshoot of the system is running across South Interior Karnataka in the proximity of the capital city. Frequent intermittent showers during the late hours and cloudy sky during the day will result drop in the day temperature to about 25 degrees and lowering the night temperatures to 20deg. Pleasant days and rainy night is forecast for the next 2 days and generally become dry thereafter.
