Have you thought of spending this long weekend in lap of nature in Shimla, Manali or Srinagar or have planned a pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi? Well, if you are among those, then your holiday plans may skid due to wet weather in the hills.

According to the latest weather forecast by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, heavy snow and rain is expected to lash the hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the weekend.

Weather models have indicated a fresh Western Disturbance would be affecting the region by Friday night, which would result in inclement weather conditions for the next couple of days.

In a bid to avoid any untoward incident, people are advised to refrain from travelling to hill stations including Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Manali, Kullu, Shimla, Nainital, Mussoorie and even to Hindu shrine of Vaishno Devi.

Connectivity is most affected during the bad weather, as landslides and poor visibility conditions lead to closure of several national and state highways. As a result, scores of travelers are stranded on the roads, forced to spend days on the roadside itself. Moreover, air traffic also gets affected as most of the flights either get cancelled or get delayed for longer duration.

Tourists will also have to brave bone chilling winds, making it almost impossible for them to even take a stroll. State authorities also warn people from venturing out much.

So if you wish to spend a peaceful weekend, give hill station a nudge and rather plan a trip to Rajasthan, which at the moment is witnessing pleasant weather conditions.
