Rains are dodging Delhi for very long. The weather conditions were favourable for rains to occur over Delhi and NCR on August 1 also. However, only isolated pockets witnessed light rains and that also for a short duration.

Now, the axis of Monsoon Trough has further advanced toward North and winds are still blowing from east and south-east direction leading to high moisture content. There are chances that Delhi might see scattered rains and thundershowers between August 2 to August 4. These rains would be patchy in nature, but few intense spells cannot be ruled out.

The intensity and spread of rains may increase on August 5 and August 6 when the axis of Monsoon Trough will reach the vicinity of Delhi and NCR.

Moreover, a Low-Pressure Area over Bay of Bengal which is expected to form by August 4 will also influence the rain activities over the northern plains of the country including Delhi and NCR. The weather will be comfortable then and relief from the ongoing sultry weather will be witnessed. During this time, the mercury is likely to drop and temperatures over Delhi and NCR will be in the lower 30s.

On Thursday, the city recorded a high of 36.9 degrees Celsius, three degrees above the normal, and a low of 28.3 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels oscillated between 58 to 80 percent.
