Different shades of weather in Delhi during first fortnight of April

Pleasant weather in DelhiApril is here, but, summer still seems to be just knocking at the door. Some aspects of winter are still lingering on in the national capital. For instance, frequent spells of rain are being observed due to successive Western Disturbances (A phenomenon usually experienced during winters). However, temperatures are likely to rise gradually for next couple of days. Consequently, summer-like feeling during afternoon hours cannot be ruled out.

Temperatures in Delhi

The average maximum temperature in Delhi for the first week was 30.8°C, which is 5°C below the normal average for the first seven days of April. Therefore, Delhi in this April has been the coldest since 2008, when the average maximum for first seven days was 30.1°C.

Day temperature at the Safdarjung Observatory settled at 32.2°C on Wednesday, raising the average to 31°C. Maximum is likely to settle around 33°C on Thursday. Thereafter, Delhi will witness a gradual rise in the mercury, to about 35°C.

A marginal drop is likely after the spell of rain on April 11-12. Temperatures will again rise, making the afternoon hours uncomfortable. Nevertheless, day temperatures will settle in the mid-thirties. Looking at the temperature profile, we can say that April has been comfortable so far and different shades of weather are likely in Delhi till the first fortnight of April.
