Different shades of weather across major cities of India

February 4, 2016 10:15 AM |

Weather in IndiaAt present, weather of the country is going through the changeover period. While North India will continue to be under the influence of winters, Peninsular India is inching towards hotter days.

Let us have a look at the weather across the major cites of the country during the next few days.

Weather in Delhi

With the commencement of February, Delhi has entered into the last leg of winters. Though it has not been as intense as every season, but the flavour of the winter will not fade away soon.

So far temperatures have been above normal during the thick of winters. Minimum temperatures have also dropped below 5 degree mark on just two occasions, which is very rare. All this can be attributed to the dry winters.

However, February has something different in store and unlike December and January, we expect two to three rainy spells ahead in the month.

The initial spell will be on the lighter note between February 6 and February 8. But the second spell between February 11 and February 14 will be more intense and widespread.

Hence, minimum temperatures are likely to drop but maximum temperatures will remain unaffected.

As we proceed into the second half of February, day temperatures that were settling in low 20s will settle around 26°C or 27°C. Similarly, morning temperatures settling around 10°C will rise and may reach to 13°C also.

Weather in Mumbai

Mumbai has been witnessing pleasant nights and mornings since last few days but days have been warm and humid. However, weather is all set to change as we progress further in February.

Maximum and minimum temperatures will start increasing during this month but rise will be a gradual one. Day temperatures will settle in low 30s, while night temperatures will hover around 18°C.

The major change in weather will observe a steep increase in the levels of humidity on account of change of winds. With this, Mumbaikars will have to reel under sultry weather conditions in coming days during the day as well as the night also. Only relief expected is the light sea breeze.

Weather in Chennai

Weather in Chennai will under go a major change during February. With the sun shifting northwards, oceans will now heat up and wind pattern will change. This will result in an increase in temperatures and humidity.

Both maximum and minimum temperatures will rise by at least 2-3 degrees in coming days and will settle in low 30s and low 20s, respectively.

People of the city are already witnessing uncomfortable weather, which will further increase manifolds. Rain will continue to remain far and few. However, winds from sea will bring slight relief.

Weather in Kolkata

Kolkata will be the only city to witness comfortable weather ahead. By the mid-February, winters will make an exit from the capital city and Kolkata will inch towards warmer weather.

Day temperatures will witness slight increase but night temperatures will drop significantly.

Minimum temperature will settle in double digits in low 20s and there are very remote chances of them settling in single. While maximum temperature will be low 30s.

No significant weather activity is likely over the city during the next few days as well.
