Dharamsala records 107 mm rain; more showers for Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand

Intermittent Rainfall to continue over Hills of North India

Good rains have been occurring over the hills of North India for the past few days. The last 24 hours were no different and rains of varying intensity were observed in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. 

Since the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Dharamsala recorded 107.2 mm of rain, Katra 95.3 mm, Uttarkashi 61 mm, Pithoragarh 60.7 mm, Nahan 34.4 mm, Joshimath 18 mm, Mukteshwar 14.6 mm, Manali 14 mm, Hamirpur 12 mm, Sundernagar 10 mm, Tehri 6.8 mm, Nainital 6.2 mm, Pantnagar 5 mm, Bhaderwah 3.8 mm, Batote 2.9 mm, Shimla, Kullu and Pahalgam 2.2 mm, Bilaspur 1 mm, Kukernag, Banihal and Gulmarg 0.4 mm.

At present, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand are rain surplus regions by 67% and 20%, respectively. While Himachal Pradesh is rain deficient by 8%.

According to Skymet Weather, a Western Disturbance is seen persisting over Jammu and Kashmir region. With this, moderate showers along with few isolated heavy spells cannot be ruled out at many places over the western Himalayas.

Also, these rain and thundershower activities will continue to occur over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Furthermore, the weather conditions continue to be favorable for rains and thundershowers during the next 48 hours. Now, the intensity of rain is expected to increase in these regions.
