Cold Wave conditions have once again gripped many parts of Vidarbha and North Madhya Maharashtra. Minimum temperatures over many parts of these regions are settling around 4 to 6 degrees Celsius.
Cities of Nagpur, Jalgaon, Amravati, Akola, Chandrapur are particularly reeling under Cold Wave conditions. Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, Cold Wave conditions will persist for another 24 to 48 hours as northeasterly cold winds from the northwestern parts of the country are expected to continue blowing over these areas of Maharashtra.
Mumbai has also seen a drop in temperatures wherein they are settling at least three degrees below the normal levels. This scenario is expected to continue for another 24 to 48 hours.
Thereafter, winds are expected to change direction from northeasterly to southeasterly. At that time, temperatures are expected to rise marginally. However, there will not be a significant increase in temperatures but only gradual. Thus, Cold Wave conditions will persist.
Weather will remain dry over entire Maharashtra as we do not expect any system to approach the region in the coming days. In fact, this is the driest season for the state.
In fact, if we compare this winter to previous ones, then the weather is much colder during this time. Although the commencement of winters was quite late, but after the commencement, drop in temperatures was significant.
Moreover, until now, cold wave conditions are still persisting over Maharashtra while it has abated the rest of the country, particularly the central and the northern parts.
