The state of Telangana borders Andhra Pradesh and has been carved out of the latter. Therefore, the three subdivision now constitute of Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh has a long coastline while Telangana and Rayalaseema lie in the interiors. However, the state of Telangana gets weather activity due to the spillover from Maharashtra Chhattisgarh and systems affecting Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Rayalaseema has Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh bordering but due to its south location it gets the smallest share of rain.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh sees rainfall activity due to Monsoon systems forming over Bay of Bengal making it a beneficiary of these rains.
In the past few days, rains have not been as bad over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana but Rayalaseema has been the one receiving the least amount of rainfall.
Take a look at the graph which shows rain stats over the three regions on August 5, August 10 and 13:
On August 1, Telangana was rained deficient by 5%, Rayalaseema by -41% and Coastal Andhra Pradesh was rainfall surplus by 5%.
On August 5, Telangana became rain deficient by 9%, Rayalaseema remained at -41% while coastal Andhra Pradesh’s surplus reduced and settled at 3 %.
On August 10, Telangana’s rainfall deficiency increased to - 11 %, Coastal Andhra Pradesh was rain surplus by 2 % and Rayalaseema became rain deficient by 43 %.
However, after August 10 rainfall activity increased over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on account of a weather system in Bay of Bengal.
Therefore, both Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh had a big jump and Telangana became rain surplus by 4 percent and coastal Andhra Pradesh was surplus by 11 %. However, Rayalaseema remained rain deficient at -40 %.
Now, the low pressure area over Bay of Bengal adjoining Odisha and Andhra Pradesh is expected to become more marked and will move inland.
On account of this, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh will see good rainfall activity. In fact, Rayalaseema will also be witnessing marginal improvement in rain deficiency due to upcoming moderate rains. However, the improvement will not be a massive one and the region will remain the most rain deficient part over the Indian mainland.
