Despite Floods, Chennai remains hot favourite holiday destinationThe holiday season is here and us Indians only need an excuse to pack our bags and go far away from the daily chaos of life. Both Christmas and New Year this year fall on a long weekend, giving people an even better chance of travelling during the holiday season.

Despite remaining flooded for almost a month, Chennai still remains the hot spot for tourists. According to a report by Hotels.com, with 137 percent searches, Chennai was the most searched destination for the year-end holiday season.

Colva in Goa stood second with 132 percent searches. The silicon city of India, Bengaluru, was also not far behind. With 111 percent searches, the capital city of Karnataka stood third. Arpora and Candolim in Goa, with 94 percent and 76 percent searches, stood fourth and fifth, respectively.

The report has been based on searches made between January and November on hotels.com, for check-ins between December 24 and 28. Delhi and Mumbai could not make it to the list of the top five cities. However, these two cities hold some of the best New Year and Christmas parties in the country.

For overseas travel, Koh Samui in Thailand topped the list with 92 percent searches. Hong Kong was second with 72 percent searches. Kuala Lumpur ranked third with 62 percent searches while London stood fifth with around 50 percent searches.
