Depression Weakens To Low Pressure Area: Rains Continue Over Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh

Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal (BoB)  has since weakened to well marked low (WML) pressure area. The weather system has moved further closer to the coastline of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.  It is centred around 13deg North and 82.5deg East, almost abeam Chennai, nearly 200km east of it. Cyclonic circulation extends up to higher atmospheric levels and is likely to shift right over the coast after 24hr.

Thereafter, it will weaken and move across South Peninsula to enter Arabian Sea. Active monsoon conditions are likely over North Tamil Nadu and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh. 

Mostly moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls are expected over North Tamil Nadu and extreme southern parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, today and tomorrow. Chennai, Tambaram, Kanchipuram, Puducherry, Ongole, Nellore, Kavali and  Bapatla are expected to have heavy intermittent rainfall with breaks in between. Intensity and spread of rainfall will ease out on 24th Nov over these parts. 

As the system breaches the coastline tomorrow, rain belt is also likely to extend inland over South Peninsula.  Moderate rain and thundershowers are expected over interiors of Tamil Nadu, Parts of Rayalaseema & South Interior Karnataka and state of Kerala on 23rd , 24th and25th Nov. No flooding rains or hazardous weather conditions are expected over these parts.  Minimal weather activity is expected from 27th Nov onward.
