The monsoon depression over South Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh has weakened into a low-pressure area. The system will move west-northwest and position over southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining parts of northwest Madhya Pradesh. The weather system is unlikely to move further west and get filled up over the tri-junction of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Northeast Rajasthan.

Monsoon was vigorous over Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in the past 24 hours. Over 100mm of rainfall was recorded at Rewa( MP) and Kanpur (UP). Varanasi, Prayagraj, Jhansi, Satna, Gwalior, Nowgong, and Sidhi received moderate to heavy rainfall.

The low-pressure area is likely to remain over farther parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, as a weakened system, for the next 24 hours. Also, there is a westerly trough moving across the northern mountains. While the primary system will impact weather activity over West Uttar Pradesh, the combined influence will stretch the activity to the state of Uttarakhand. The mountainous terrain as such, raises the complexity. Foothills of Uttarakhand will be more vulnerable to inclement weather conditions for the next 24 hours and improve, thereafter.

Over West Uttar Pradesh, in addition to the foothills, locations in the proximity of Delhi will also be at risk of adverse weather conditions. The next 24 hours will be more crucial for Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Aligarh, Hathras, Mathura, Agra, Bulandshahar, Noida and Baghpat. The spread and intensity will shrink considerably in the subsequent 24 hours. Weather conditions will improve over the entire region from 20th September onwards.
