Depression weakens into well marked low; heavy rains in South MP, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra

The depression over Southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Gujarat and North Madhya Maharashtra has finally weakened into a well-marked low pressure area. The system is presently seen over southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas.

The system kept Monsoon vigorous over central parts of the country, particularly over Maharashtra. Depression had given extremely heavy rains over most parts of Maharashtra wherein Aurangabad recorded 157 mm in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, followed by Buldana 130 mm, Jalgaon 127 mm, Washim 110 mm, Nanded 102 mm, and Parbhani 78 mm.

Moderate to heavy rains were also recorded over Gujarat and few parts of Madhya Pradesh and Telangana.

According to Skymet Weather, although the system has now weakened but would be capable of still giving moderate to heavy rains.

Weathermen predict, heavy to extremely heavy rains over many parts Gujarat region, while moderate to heavy showers are likely over Kutch during the next 24 to 48 hours. These heavy rains may trigger flash floods in many parts of the state as well.

Southwest Madhya Pradesh and South Rajasthan would also record heavy to very heavy for 24 hours.

Parts of North Madhya Maharashtra would also receive moderate to heavy rains for another 24 hours. However, rains would now reduce over Marathwada and Vidarbha region but moderate rain with one or two heavy spells will continue.
