The depression is currently over Madhya Pradesh region about 150 km northeast of Bhopal and 50 km north of Sagar. The system will move west northwestwards and weaken into a well marked low pressure area in the next 12 hours or so and further to a low in subsequent 24 hours.
The system has been a peculiar one for many reasons. Firstly, it is not common for a storm in August and maintaining intensity even deep inside. Subsequent weakening has been very slow and the storm has reached over Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan maintaining its status as a depression
The system has already given heavy to very heavy rains in the last 24 hours over Madhya Pradesh wherein Damoh, Hoshangabad, Pachmarhi, Guna, Bhopal have seen rains in excess of 100 mm rains. In teh next 24 hours also, we can expect southern madhya Pradesh to see heavy to very heavy rains.
Rajasthan along with northern parts of Gujarat over the next 48 hours can see moderate to heavy rains. In Rajasthan, right from Barmer, Jalore, Boondi, Jhalawar, Sirohi, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Kota, Dungarpur, Baran, Bhilwara etc. may see moderate to heavy rains.
For Gujarat, Surendranagar, Gandhinagar, Gandhidham, Kandla, Ahmedabad, Godhra, Deesa, Patan etc. can expect some good rains. Today, extreme southwest parts of Madhya Pradesh may be the ones receiving heavy rains.
