Rain in IndiaUpdated on July 14, 2015 10:50 AM (IST): Low pressure area over North India fizzles out

As predicted by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the low pressure area over Haryana and adjoining Punjab region has further weakened and has become insignificant. The system has now merged with the Monsoon trough that is running close to foothills of Himalayas.

With the system loosing its intensity, rain over Punjab and Haryana will reduce significantly and weather over plains of Northwest India will be mostly dry.

Updated on July 13, 2015 03:50 PM (IST): Depression over North India weakens into low pressure area

The depression over North India has weakened into a low pressure area and is currently prevailing over Haryana and adjoining Punjab region.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the weather system will continue loosing its strength and is expected to become insignificant any time now.

At present, system is giving light to moderate rain over isolated places of North Haryana and Punjab. However, intensity of rain will reduce during next 24 hours as the system diffuses.

Updated on July 12, 2015 06:20 PM (IST): Depression over Uttar Pradesh weakens

As the system shifts further, depression over West Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Haryana and Delhi has started loosing its intensity.

The weather system is moving northwestwards and is presently centered at latitude 28.5°N and Longitude 77.3°E, around 30 km southwest of Meerut.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the system is expected to weaken into low pressure area during next 24 hours.

With this, intensity of rain over most parts of Uttar Pradesh will reduce, barring parts of East Uttar Pradesh that will continue to witness showers on account of active Monsoon trough.

Updated on July 11, 2015 01:20 PM (IST): Depression over Central India continues to bring heavy Monsoon rain

The depression lying close to Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh has moved in the northwest direction. At present it can be seen over east Madhya Pradesh, close to Satna.

The depression will continue moving in the west/northwest direction during next 24 hours.

As and when depressions over East India start moving northwestwards, they tend to draw moisture from the Arabian Sea. With moisture incursion, such weather systems continue to bring fairly widespread rainfall over Central India, including Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

At the moment we can also see an upper air trough in the higher levels from the hills of North India to west of Karachi. The trough is moving eastwards and will restrict the relatively faster movement of the depression over Central India. Accordingly, the depression will remain stationery over West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Rajasthan for some time. Therefore, we can expect heavy Monsoon showers over West Madhya Pradesh, adjoining Rajasthan and Soutwest Uttar Pradesh during next 24 hours.

The presence of the Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir is also making conditions favourable for rain in Central India. The combined effect of the Western Disturbance and the depression will continue to bring intermittent rain over North India, including Delhi and NCR, for next 24 to 36 hours.
