Depression is churning in Bay of Bengal, will head to Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh

Low pressure in Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas has intensified as a well-marked low-pressure area over a central part of South your Bengal. It will continue its movement in West northwest direction and may intensify into a depression gradually.

But before reaching near the coast this weather system may get weaken. Reason for the weakening of whether system can be attributed to colder Sea surface temperature near the coast, increased vertical wind shear as well as intrusion of a dry winds from west.

Light rain to comments over coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh from night of November 19. There will be gradual increase in rain intensity until November 22nd. Rain intensity will be a light to moderate with isolated heavy spells over South coast of Andhra Pradesh and parts of coastal Tamil Nadu. We do not expect torrential rain which may induce flashfloods. Wind speed over cost of Sri Lanka Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh may reach up to 40 to 50 km per hour.

Between October and December cyclones usually develop over Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. We do not anticipate any cyclonic storm either over Bay of Bengal or Arabian Sea during remaining days of November.
