The weather system which had formed in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression and continues to maintain its strength. In fact, the system has been giving good rains over several parts of West Bengal as well as Odisha. The capital city of West Bengal, Kolkata has also been recording good rains, all thanks to the weather system.

At present, the weather system is over west-central adjoining north-west Bay in the form of a depression. It is moving east-northeastwards closer to the Bangladesh coast. There is a possibility that the system may intensify into a deep depression during the next 24 hours. However, the chances of it becoming a cyclone are quite bleak.

Good rains have already begun over several Northeastern states. Now due to the movement of the system, many parts of Northeast India are expected to receive more rains. While some areas are likely to witness scattered rains, isolated pockets may receive heavy rains.

During the next 24 hours, many parts of Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura and isolated parts of Assam are likely to witness heavy showers. Scattered showers are also expected over Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.

These rains are likely to continue until November 6. Thereafter, the rainfall intensity is expected to reduce as the weather system will move away.
